On 07 March 2026, More than 50 women leaders and participants from across the continent gathered online to celebrate International Women’s Day through the HerStory Program, organized under the Global Women’s Peace Network (GWPN Africa), led by Regional Director Mrs. May Gaye. The program was gracefully moderated by Mrs. Gaye, setting a warm and engaging tone for the event. And French and English translation by Ms. Kwansun Precious Ngobar, WFWP Africa Young Professionals Coordinator.

In her Welcome Remarks, Dr. Susan Kone, Regional President, emphasized the vital role of women in peacebuilding and the importance of creating platforms that amplify women’s voices and experiences.

The highlight of the program was the presentation by the main speaker, Ms. Valérie Ntakpe Seri, a former banker and SME financing expert. She shared her powerful personal journey, reflecting on her transition from the banking sector to supporting small and medium enterprises, as well as the challenges and setbacks she encountered along the way.

Drawing from her experience, Ms. Seri emphasized the importance of addressing gender inequality by equipping women with practical tools, access to support systems, and continuous learning opportunities. She spoke candidly about balancing family responsibilities with professional growth and encouraged women to remain resilient in the face of difficulties.Offering practical advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, she encouraged participants to start small, seek guidance when needed, take advantage of digital platforms to build skills, and remain persistent in pursuing their goals.

The session concluded with Closing Remarks from Mrs. Bernadette Fogue, who expressed appreciation to the speaker and participants, and encouraged women to seek mentorship and continue supporting one another.

Participants were also invited to take part in a commemorative group photo, with plans announced for a follow-up session to further support women’s growth and leadership.

The HerStory Program served as a meaningful platform to celebrate women’s achievements, share real-life experiences, and inspire collective action toward empowering women across Africa.
