WFWP Ghana Empowers Women in Manchie Community

By: Mrs. Marthe Whyte

The community of Manchie, located in the Greater Accra Region, is home to a number of WFWP Ghana associate members at the grassroots level. For several years, these women have been welcoming our executives for character education lectures and receiving financial empowerment to strengthen their families and support petty trading.

On Friday, 12th September 2025, WFWP Ghana Chapter President, Mrs. Marthe Whyte, and General Secretary, Mrs. Vivian Nkasia, met with 45 women in the community. The gathering began with an education session based on the speech of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, “The Vision of True Womanhood,” highlighting the vital role women play in bringing harmony to their homes and supporting their husbands.

Participants shared reflections on the message, which inspired lively discussion and personal testimonies.Following the lecture, small loans were allocated to 24 women, divided into three categories depending on the amount received. These funds will support petty trading for three months, after which repayments allow the cycle to continue for new applicants.

This marks the fifth batch of women supported since August 2024. So far, about 64 women in the Manchie community have been empowered through this program, enabling them to embark on petty trading to support their households. This is part of WFWP Ghana’s ongoing mission to fulfill the goal of women’s empowerment in the Greater Accra Region.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Baratu Mohammed, shared her gratitude:
“I am very grateful to WF-Ghana for their financial support. Although what we receive as soft loan isn’t that much, I am able to add it to my capital and sell my locally made drink (Bukina) and make some little profit. That has given me more confidence as I can now support in the family expenses. Thank you, WF-Ghana.”

The event concluded with light refreshments and family photos, sealing another memorable chapter in WFWP Ghana’s journey of service and empowerment.
