WFWP Ghana Visit to Scholarship Students in Communities

By: Marthe Whyte

WF-Ghana started a scholarship scheme project over ten (10) years ago with the support of WF-Japan. Some brilliant students who were from socially challenged families were enrolled into the project as WF- Ghana stepped in to support those children in their basic education. Among them, we have doctor Jerry A. a medical doctor who was picked and supported from the primary to the tertiary level. The project leader, Mrs. Nomura finds foster parents in Japan who support of basic education of foster children in Ghana.

As, WF-Ghana received the Japanese volunteers in this month of June, we organized meetings with the foster children under the scholarship scheme to enable us check on them and make them send greeting messages to their foster parents back in Japan. They also enroll a few new children in the scheme. The activities were done in five (5) communities which are Ofankor, Amamorley, Opah , Odumasey and Gada ,communities in which our scholarship children live and attend school.

In Opah basic school, our international president, Mrs. Moriko Hori was welcomed officially as she was visiting Ghana for the first time. The headmistresses received and also donated presents to Mrs. Nomura, the leader of project from Japan.
