Mother's Heart Peace Network Assembly Celebrates Women's Empowerment Across Africa

The Mother's Heart Peace Network (MHPN), hosted by the Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Africa, successfully held its online assembly on 23 May 2026 under the inspiring theme, "Empowered Women Empower Women." The gathering brought together 70 participants from across the African continent, creating a vibrant platform for women leaders, mothers, and peace advocates to connect, share experiences, and strengthen their commitment to building peaceful families and communities.

The program was moderated by Mrs. Bernadette Fogue and began with opening remarks from Mrs. Evelyn Chimfwembe, MHPN Regional Director. She warmly welcomed participants and emphasized the important role mothers and women play in nurturing peace, strengthening families, and empowering future generations.A moving video tribute honoring mothers followed, providing participants with an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices, love, and dedication of mothers around the world.

Dr. Susan Kone, WFWP Africa Regional President, then presented an overview of the Mother's Heart Peace Network, highlighting its vision, achievements, and growing impact throughout Africa. She encouraged women to embrace their unique leadership roles and continue serving as agents of positive change in society.

The assembly also celebrated the 5th Anniversary of the Mother's Heart Peace Network with a special commemorative video showcasing key milestones, achievements, and inspiring activities carried out over the past five years.

The program featured best-practice presentations from Mrs. Evelyn Chimfwembe and Mrs. Maggy Zaibo, who shared successful initiatives and experiences from their respective areas. Their testimonies demonstrated how dedicated women leaders can inspire and empower others through practical action and community engagement.

Participants also received update reports from the Mother's Heart Peace Network Subregional Directors representing Subregions 1, 2, and 4. These reports highlighted ongoing activities, accomplishments, challenges, and future plans, illustrating the network's growing influence and commitment throughout the continent.In a powerful Call to Action, Mrs. Catherine Diarra encouraged participants to move beyond discussion and actively apply the principles of service, compassion, and leadership in their homes, communities, and organizations.

The assembly concluded with closing remarks by Mrs. Flory Ledwaba, Regional Secretary General, who inspired participants with a message on leadership and the power of women's contributions to society. 

She reminded attendees:"Every person has the potential to lead because leadership begins with having something meaningful to give. When we connect ourselves to God's purpose and live for the sake of others, we become true leaders in our homes, communities, and society.As women leaders, we are called to become multipliers of goodness. Sometimes we may not realize how deeply our words, actions, and kindness can touch the lives of others. A small act of encouragement, love, or service can create a ripple effect that brings hope and transformation."

The Mother's Heart Peace Network Assembly concluded with renewed inspiration and commitment among participants to continue empowering women, strengthening families, and promoting a culture of peace throughout Africa. The event demonstrated that when women are empowered, they become catalysts for positive change, empowering others and creating lasting impact across generations.
