On 27 April 2026, the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Nigeria successfully conducted comprehensive advocacy meetings on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in two strategic locations: One Man Village Community in Nasarawa State and the National Mosque in Abuja, FCT.

The initiative was designed to promote peace, safety, and the protection of women’s rights through inclusive community engagement and interfaith dialogue. By reaching both a rural community setting and a key religious institution, the campaign ensured a balanced approach in addressing GBV from cultural, religious, and social perspectives.

The meetings brought together more than 50 a diverse group of participants, including community leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, and youth. Through interactive discussions and awareness sessions, participants gained deeper understanding of the different forms of Gender-Based Violence, available reporting mechanisms, and the critical role of leadership in preventing and responding to abuse within communities.

A key focus of the advocacy was the urgent need to break the silence surrounding Gender-Based Violence and to encourage open dialogue and reporting. Participants were further encouraged to strengthen collaborative networks that support survivors and promote safe, respectful, and violence-free communities.

The engagements were well received and marked an important step in strengthening community responsibility and interfaith cooperation in addressing GBV in Nigeria. WFWP Nigeria continues to remain committed to advancing peacebuilding efforts and safeguarding the dignity and rights of women and girls across all communities.
