On 30 April 2026, the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) São Tomé and Príncipe, in partnership with YSP, successfully conducted the first session of the Character Education Training Program at Bombom School. The session brought together 20 female students and marked the beginning of an important initiative aimed at nurturing positive values, attitudes, and behaviors among young people.
The program is designed to support the personal and social development of participants, helping them to build strong character and to become responsible and conscious members of society. Through interactive learning and guided discussion, the students were introduced to foundational principles that contribute to living a life of integrity and purpose.
The session focused on three main thematic areas:
What it means to be good – exploring the core principles and values that define good character, including honesty, respect, responsibility, and kindness.
Where I learn to be good – highlighting key environments that shape character formation, such as the family, school, and community, and emphasizing the importance of positive role models.
Sustainable peace – focusing on the importance of building healthy relationships, resolving conflict peacefully, and contributing to lasting harmony within society.
The session was conducted in a participatory and well-organized manner, allowing for active engagement and meaningful interaction among the students. The learners responded positively, demonstrating interest and openness to the concepts shared.
This first session was a successful and encouraging start to the Character Education Program. It laid a strong foundation for continued learning and growth, and reaffirmed WFWP’s commitment to empowering young women through values-based education that contributes to building a more just, peaceful, and harmonious society.
